Learning about the Tudors

Year 6 visited Christ Church College in Oxford on 21 November as part of our topic on the Tudors.

We were met in the quad, and were first given a tour of the dining room.

Then, the class were given Tudor costumes (including members of the clergy, merchants and Henry VIII) and had a tour around the Cathedral in small groups, with a focus on the Tudor features within the building. Some pupils were lucky enough to have the position of bishop for a few minutes!

We were then taken on a tour of the library, where we got to see medieval texts and a prayer book owned by Elizabeth I.

Finally, whilst eating lunch, we were shown a presentation on the history of Christ Church.
