Survival skills day at Hill End Y4 – June 17

Year 3 and 4 had a wonderful day at Hill End learning how to survive when marooned on a desert island. They made fire, built shelters, filtered water, made giant SOS signs, debated and agreed on five essential items, built animal traps and generally got very muddy and enjoyed the forest and open space!

Street dance and graffiti art – Year 4

Year 4 have had a brilliant time learning about modern British culture. We have looked at British values, street dance and had a go of graffiti art linking all of these topics to having a growth mind set. We have expressed this through our art work and the discipline required to learn rigorous dance routines!

Beowulf Box Theatre Project

Some amazing projects on the Beowulf Box Theatre Project as you can see.  Having created some amazing theatres, characters and props year four then created spot lights with eggcups, tinfoil, bulbs, wires and batteries.  With our homemade instruments to create special effects we are now in the preliminary stages of filming.  Watch this space!!  

Oxford Film Festival

We had a great trip to the IntoFilm Animation Festival at the Phoenix Picture House in Jericho where we saw a number of thought provoking and unusual animation films.  Good preparation for making our own animations of Beowulf with our Animation Box Theatre Project.  

Young mathematicians

Year Four had a lot of fun problem solving and investigating patterns with Dan Ciubotaru, Professor of Mathematics  from Oxford University.
