West Oxford Community Primary is a friendly and diverse single, form entry school housed in a spacious Edwardian building in a leafy suburb of the City of Oxford. The school first opened in 1914 and continues to evolve to meet the changing needs of our children and curriculum.
Our school has easy access to Oxford’s rich cultural and natural resources. The city’s world class university museums lie within walking distance of the school. Our school is bounded by rivers and nature reserves creating plentiful opportunities for outdoor learning.
Our school’s facilities include: well-resourced and spacious classrooms, a large playground with a pond and climbing apparatus, excellent Early Years outdoor learning facilities, healthy and tasty lunches provided by our in house kitchen team, and a large school field.

Our Nursery and Reception classes occupy three large airy classrooms on the ground floor of the school and a dedicated playground for Early Years and Foundation Stage children.
Our creative and nurturing Early Years team deliver an exciting and inspiring hands-on curriculum for our youngest students giving them the best possible start to their education.
Year 1 occupies a purpose built facility adjacent to the main school building with good access to the playground and canteen. Year 2 enjoy a large bright classroom on the ground floor of the school beside our large school hall.
KS1 staff focus on embedding the foundations for future learning with a particular focus on literacy and maths. This complements an engaging broader curriculum spanning science, history, art, music and sport.
Years 3 – 6 occupy a series of bright, airy classrooms on the first floor of our purpose-built Edwardian school. The first floor also boasts a science and crafts area as well as the school library, which is run by Year 6 students.
KS2 teaching consolidates and extends children’s curiosity and learning, building confidence and resilience to prepare them to continue their education at secondary school.
