Lessons, Choir & Orchestra

Music is a huge part of our day at the school, and children are encouraged to take part in the different ensembles and and lessons available, as well as our popular choir.

We offer a wide range of instrumental lessons in stringed and brass instruments through our partnership with the County Music Service and every child in Year 5 can learn a brass instrument for free.

Bringing Music to the school

Oxfordshire County Music Service

We have partnered with the Oxfordshire County Music Service to a huge range of musical opportunities to the school.

All children from Year 3 have the opportunity to join the hugely popular school choir, which has performed all over the city, and in Year 5 all children learn a brass instrument, with lessons paid for and instruments provided by the school.

Children are also offered affordable group music lessons in a wide range of stringed and brass instruments, and our Starter and Senior Orchestras give all children a chance to shine.

The Value of Music

First Access: Brass

We set a very high value on music at the school and have many talented children learning a wide range of instruments. It is very important to us to give every child the opportunity to learn an instrument, so for a number of years now we have covered the cost of brass lessons for every child in Year 5. We also loan each child an instrument for the year, free of charge. The whole class loves this experience, and many continue with brass lessons in Year 6.
