School lunches at West Oxford are provided in-house under the management of Ruth Lyster. Ruth and her team provide hot, healthy, tasty lunches each day and where possible will use locally sourced ingredients. Meals cost £2.20.
School lunches are very popular with children and staff. The menus are designed by Ruth in consultation with a nutritionist, to ensure that government guidelines are met. Children are given a choice of :
- a main courses of meat or fish or a vegetarian option;
- two portions of freshly prepared vegetables or salad;
- pudding of the day (e.g. apple crumble and custard) or a choice of yogurt, cheese and oatcakes or dried fruit;
- and a selection of fresh fruit.
The school menu is sent out to parents at the beginning of each term and is published on the school information board.

Lunches can be paid weekly or half termly online using Parent Pay. Please talk to the school office if you are unsure of your login details. The school can also accept cash or cheques (cheques made payable to Oxfordshire County Council), but Parent Pay is our preferred method of payment. Children are asked at the start of each school day if they require a school lunch or a packed lunch so there is a lot of flexibility.
Free School Meals
From the Autumn term 2014, all children in Reception and Key Stage 1 will be eligible for free school meals. The government also provides free meals for some families, click here for further information on free school meals from Oxfordshire County Council.
